Taking Care of Your Motorhome

If you own an RV you know how similar they are to a house. Maintenance must be performed on your home to keep everything in tip top shape. Likewise, taking care of your motorhome or RV will need the same type of maintenance as well as the same type of maintenance you would perform on your automobile. if you perform the following tips you should be able to eliminate many headaches and expensive repairs in the future.

One thing that is often overlooked is tire pressure. Try to check your tire pressure each time you fill up to help avoid being stranded and also maximize fuel efficiency. Always perform required maintenance suggested by the manufacturer of your RV. Utilize online review sites to find reputable RV parts and service centers when on the road.

When showering in your RV try to keep the restroom door closed and keep the bathroom vent running so that moisture is contained to only that area. When you’re done showering open the restroom door and leave the vent running for an additional five minutes to remove any leftover moisture. Also, boiling water in a microwave will produce much less moisture than a stove top.

It can be a real pain and a mess when the drains in your RV become clogged. Using a simple mixture of baking soda and vinegar in your drains can help keep them clear and flowing smoothly. Just mix a half cup of each together and pour it into the drain and let that sit for about 10 minutes and then dump some boiling water down the drain to flush it out.

By using a cover for your RV you can eliminate many types of damage caused by wind, ice, and snow. It will also help eliminate sun fading of your carpet and upholstery when it is parked in one position for several months. Also, before covering be sure to winterize all water lines and make sure everything is unplugged.
